Windows 10 has been out for a day, and Microsoft is reporting it has been installed on over 14 million devices so far. That’s not a bad start, but as Microsoft outlined a few weeks ago, the rollout is going to be in waves which should help with network demand from ISPs as well as a belt and suspenders approach against any crippling bugs which might pop up as the amount of different hardware it gets installed on increases.

At Microsoft’s Build developer conference, they laid out their goal of having Windows 10 installed on one billion devices in the next three years, which is their key to their future. Windows is not the primary development platform for many apps anymore, and one way to help that is to have a platform large enough to not easily be ignored. 14 million devices in one day is a good start.

There are a lot more reservations to go though, and those that have “reserved” their free upgrade will be notified when it is ready for their device.

" Marketing will try and make anything look good even though it is a dog."

And then there are people that will try to make anything a "dog" just because it's from MS.

I'd hardly compare phone sales to an OS. Reply

'belt and suspenders' odd change of the phrase 'belt and braces'. Is that a personal preference or do your socks keep falling down :) Reply

'Belt and suspenders' is U.S version. Braces are suspenders in U.S (they hold up our pants.) Suspenders are sock suspenders or sock garters in U.S. Reply

Windows 10 Pro upgrade is working great with the exception of the Cisco VPN Client. I'm not able to establish any VPN connections. Hopefully this will be fixed in the near future though. I'm currently working around it by running a Windows 7 VM with VMware Player. The Cisco VPN client works great on the VM running in my Windows 10 Pro laptop. Reply

Windows 10 is worse than 8/8.1! I have no idea why anyone would want it! The start menu is nothing but a mini version of metro that people hated in 8/8.1! You can no longer customize updates or even disable them, So if you get a buggy update that causes blue screens your out of luck! And the spyware that they told you was no big deal, because it was supposedly just there to help develop windows 10 preview, is still there collecting private data in the release version. The spyware is a disaster waiting to happen! Once a hacker learns how to exploit the spyware in Windows 10 they will know everything down to people's pin numbers! I could go on and on too! But what I mentioned is reason enough for any logical person to stay away from Windows 10! Windows 10 will be the worst failure of all time! Reply
